Housing Choices Coalition has been offered a $2,500 challenge grant to help our residents purchase furniture and other basic household items. Many of our residents, because of their income levels, move into their own apartment and are unable to purchase furniture, kitchen items, linens and other household necessities. In addition, some residents do not have family support to help them attain these items. In some of our most extreme examples, our residents do not even have a bed to sleep on their first night in their new place.

Housing Choices Coalition was created to not only provide quality, affordable housing options for people with developmental disabilities, but to also ensure a successful living environment for our residents. This is where we need your help! Every dollar you donate to the Bill Akers Fund will be matched dollar for dollar by the challenge grant up to $2,500. This means that your donation today will be doubled. Please help us meet this challenge and ensure our residents will not only have a roof over their heads, but will also have the proper items to thrive in their new residence.

Housing Choices Coalition has named this fund after Bill Akers, an active member of our Board before his death and a man who believed passionately in creating affordable housing for people like his developmentally disabled son, Allen, so that they could live full and active lives in the community.
