Housing Choices Coalition works with people with developmental disabilities by focusing on two specific service areas:

HOUSING SERVICES

HCC creates affordable housing for people with developmental disabilities. Services include:

Partnering with developers to increase the stock of afforable housing opportunities.
Assisting developers with funding applications as needed.
Preparing market data and other needed information.
Educating housing groups and government officials about the housing needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Advocating for the development of housing that is affordable to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Assisting families and individuals with developmental disabilities in fulfilling the dream of homewonership.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE HCC works one-on-one with people with developmental disabilities to ensure that their housing needs are met. These services include:

Intake and assessment
Assistance with accessing subsidized housing waitlists
Locate appropriate and affordable housing
Assistance with the application process
Resolving housing-related issues
Security deposit assistance
Move-in and follow up

RESIDENTIAL COORDINATION Just creating affordable housing is only half the equation. Providing specialized housing support services to ensure that people are successful in their housing is crucial. This program offers specific housing expertise to assist residents, their service providers and service coordinators with housing related issues. The Resident Coordinator provides a single point of contact for the purposes of continuity and comprehensive communication.

RESIDENT ASSISTANCE FUNDS HCC's Security Deposit Assistance Loan program helps residents defer the high cost associated with paying the security deposit and the first month's rent when moving into an apartment.

HCC's Bill Akers Resident Assistance Fund assists residents with acquiring basic household necessities.
